This Networking 101 workshop?will highlight the importance of growing your network for the purpose of finding jobs, getting research funding and/or selling the value of your ideas.? It will be applicable to all backgrounds and levels of experience.? The workshop will give background on how the chemical industry works in Canada, how to find venues for networking and etiquette/tips for networking successfully at events or in your day to day life.? The tips and strategies will enable all attendees to have a more successful career and improve work-life balance.

The target audience for this workshop is undergraduate students. However, all conference attendees are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Andrew BiksaBio: Andrew Biksa obtained his B.A.Sc. in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto in 2007 and M.A.Sc. in mechanical engineering from McMaster University in 2010. Before starting his current position at Chemroy Canada Inc, he spent 2.5 years in automotive research at Dana Holding Corporation and 7.5 years in chemical industry with BASF Canada working in construction, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers. At Chemroy Canada, Biksa works in chemical distribution, including construction, coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, rubber, and lubricants. Biksa has his P. Eng. license in Ontario with Professional Engineers of Ontario, and is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers. Biksa has lived in Hamilton, Ontario for the past ten years, is married with two daughters, and is an avid golfer.
